I've never posted about disliking them but I do. I don't trust them. They are power hungry. They think they're above the law. They're generally pro-Trump.

Thank you for relating your valuable insight. Do you think all the people forced into ERO work now are trying to do so with as much tact as they can? Why are a lot of them we see on camera wearing face masks and no insignia? Is that a directive from their superiors? It seems to me that catching people unawares without proper uniforms and identification should be illegal, no?

ICE is not legally allow to arrest US citizens but arrested US citizens daily( even elected officials and judges). MAGA hears "defund the police" like they hear "the right to bear arms" ... as a standalone statement, when in fact it is one part of a larger position.

They love to leave out "A well regulated militia" and just look at the part of 2a that serves their little-boy Rambo fantasies.

And defunding the police isn't an end in itself. The point is to have more social workers, addiction counselors, and mental health professionals doing the jobs that police are called to do now, and for which they are wildly unqualified. Fewer menacing black SUVs and less full combat armor roaming our streets would be a bonus.

I can't imagine the police actually like responding to call after call for mentally ill people, or passed-out drunks. Wouldn't they rather have professionals who are trained for that responding to those calls? And if the funding were shifted, wouldn't that mean that the police department needs less funding, since they'd be addressing actual crime instead of the misfortune and misery of the most vulnerable? Why would police departments (and the right wing) be opposed to having the right people for the job??

I don't dislike law enforcement. I dislike corrupt, incompetent, and racist law enforcement.

Wut. There was no defunding of MPD. Budget has remained stable for the last five years.

I'm a PP on a visa with the bad experiences with border control officers. I entirely agree! We need to fund and overhaul law enforcement training, so that it attracts candidates with higher IQs, a larger worldview and with a better capacity to react humanely under pressure and we train them in that direction.

Throwing money at police departments only means they'll buy military grade equipment to run tanned people out of town. So it's not just funding, but new directives and methods that need to be enforced at all levels. It's a lot of work.
