Our HS coach is pretty hardcore and it's very clear his mentality, and a lot of the team's mentality, is that soccer is #1. It's too bad there's not alternative for kids who enjoy it, are pretty good, want to play, but also have other priorities. My kid is still interested in playing but also is open to getting to a point where it's just not worth it. They also are 100% going to skip practice for a more important academic or extracurricular opportunity. Our HS coach is likely to penalize, but it is what it is.
