My kid's school has a locker bank just for phones. They go in the lockers in the morning and come out when school is done.

He doesn't bring it to school now. I can see it being a distraction if he has it in his pocket for high school and brings it out for lunch.

Hilariously, once my kid left his lunch at home. I brought it to school. They asked “Have you let him know you dropped it off?” When I replied no bc his phone was off & away, they said they had no way to contact him to get it.
They aren’t going to allow kids phones but also aren’t going to ping the kids class that there’s something in the office for them?

Sports sports sports. How did anyone survive playing games after school without a phone.

Every school needs to ban phones entirely.

My kids drive to sports practice and back. I want them to have a phone. This thread is bizarre. I think back to times as a teen and young woman when I REALLY wish I had a phone if only for safety and being able to reach someone.

+1 my kid has straight As in all classes. We don’t care. They don’t use it during class.
+2
And it comes in handy for communicating scheduling changes for sports or other after school plans. The sports teams and other extracurricular activities (band etc) communicate with the students through apps.
IMHO kids who are going to be a problem, will be a problem regardless of what the school policy is.
