People on here make a big deal out of adjoining family rooms even with teens in hotels and you want your in a place all alone.

No. I totally trust my daughter but she’s tiny and young looking. I’d be afraid for her and she wouldn’t want to do it solo.

Yes, ofc. My sister still gets her 17.5 yr old a babysitter whenever she's not home, they have to learn independence.

I would not leave him alone for the whole summer. He is very responsible and we would secure an apt within a block or two of his workplace.
If they are responsible sure. Many kids move out at 17 in some states where it's legal and get their own places.
The problem you might encounter though is "liability" as many places will not rent to a minor under 18. If they find out he is the main occupant, it might cause some static.

Yes with frequent phone call or zoom check ins. By 16 our teens didn't really need us for day to day supervision and logistics, but more for perspective, advice based on life experience, or guidance for unexpected things that may come up.
Depends entirely on the previous experiences the 16 year old has had & how well they have demonstrated responsibility and ability to care for themselves.

I wouldn’t. I have teens. They are responsible, but at the same time there’s too much they don’t know they don’t know. The potential downside if something goes wrong is immense.

No landlord will rent to a lone 16 yo and the liabilities are astounding.
Why don’t you put your child first and stay with them or drive them the distance every day?
