I want to be your friend!

I would like to introduce them to you! Right now, I am sitting with a little bunny named Allie who is a very sweet young bunny. She has a big brother, Joey, who is a gibbon, but he is not downstairs tonight. I have two dolls on the couch, too, this evening, Tracy, a doll wearing a stylish skirt and her hair in a ponytail, and Viola, a redhead with two braids. They are very different. Tracy is in 7th grade and at that really annoying pre-teen girls age where she is a little haughty to everyone and mean to her parents. Viola is a fourth grader, actually, she's a genius who loves science and math, but she hates exercise so we are always trying to get her to try a new activity. She agreed to try low-key gymnastics this year. Finally we have a little black and white kitty who likes to play and also snuggle up. None of the guys down here tonight are related to each other. Viola has a baby sister and a cousin. Tracy is an only child. Each one is distinct in their personality and interaction style.

ok, MAGA.

DP

Touched a nerve, huh?

PP is right. Put the toys down, stop infantilizing yourself, and act like an adult.

You equate MAGA with being an adult.

Noted.

Duh

Many don’t have healthy coping methods, thus invent their own maladaptive ones.

I have my Opus stuffed toy on my dresser. I’ve had it for over 40 years.

HOWEVER,

I think this is a great idea that I hope catches on. I would much prefer people have comfort dolls/stuffed animals that they carry everywhere than live comfort animals that can pee/poop, shed allergens, and attack people.

THIS. There are real support animals with specialized training and then there are anxious people who need their dog. The second population would do well with a stuffie.

Does an inflatable Adrienne Barbeau doll count?

+1

Extremely weird.

I remember when Chandra Levy’s parents were in town in 2001 after her disappearance, and her mother was carrying around this big stuffed duck. Really creepy. Adults shouldn’t do stuff like this. It’s unseemly.

It’s a much better coping mechanism that marijuana gummies; smoking; drinking; sleeping around; taking sleeping pills; carrying a live animal with you everywhere. I bet if you added up all the adults that do one of these to help them sleep or relieve anxiety, it’s the majority of the adult population.

My college age daughter has one of those giant teddy bears that literally takes up most of her bed. She’s gotten rid of all the other ones she’s had as a kid but hangs onto that one for some reason. It takes up so much space I don’t know why she keeps it.
