Mine had the stats for Brown and was WL at W&M. In at a few top 20s so it didn’t matter in the end, except to say it is not a safety just bc the kid has high stats.

Absolutely no need to make a "likely" be a state school near you. One kid had a safety (almost a likely) that was a private school (ranked in the 60s) 3K miles from home, and their likely was Drexel.
Plenty of private schools that can fulfill that need, as well as many publics as well. U of Alabama and WVU would both be likelies for my kid, with guaranteed list of merit.

W&M ranked quite a bit lower than several of these. But a girl can dream.

? W&M is ranked higher than Santa Clara, Boston College, Connecticut College, and Wake Forest. It has higher test scores and % submitting than Santa Clara, Boston College, Connecticut College, and Wake Forest, too. Pomona is more highly ranked and has higher test scores, though.

BC is ranked #37; acceptance rate sub 13%

Perhaps Claremont McKenna

Northeast or CA ideally, but would consider other areas (not red states).
