I’m glad they chose an American pope if only as an antidote to the right wing noise machine. Most Catholics do not identify with the JD Vance cruelty

I’m a practicing Catholic Democrat and also am happy with the choice. Pope Francis liked him and appointed him to significant positions. In his first address, he talked about building bridges and God loving everyone.

Now that the US has really been knocked down with its international relations, currency, economy, leadership, etc., it's ok to have an American Pope. Just another data point as we track the downfall.
I am hardly a MAGA but all this does is cement the US further as a global leader? What are you even talking about?
No. It is largely understood that the US would never produce a pope until it was no longer the top power.

After I saw them do some shenanigans with birth certificates to get two more people a vote, I figured we would end up with a transgender pope.

Too early to tell, but if he takes any of the core humanitarian stances of his predecessor, a showdown looms with Trump and U.S. foreign policy.
He likely will not. He's more conservative:

If this is his twitter, we got a woke pope my friend:

five bucks says Trump converts in a HUGE ceremony in the Sistine Chapel with the first American Pope canonizing the first American president as the first living Saint Donald. His three miracles are:
First day in office all wars ceased forever.
First day in office eggs reduced to o 0.99 cents a dozen
Third miracle is your choice!
