There is nothing new in this article. As early as before his first term, there were reports that they prefer to live in separate quarters and run separate diaries. Yes they are not a "traditional marriage" but it is not a separation in the legal sense of the term. They lead separate lives. This hasn't been news for a while. There are many many couples who live this way and prefer not to divorce for their own reasons.


She has seen how dictatorships end for the dictators and their wives.

Cheung knows that he's paid for his over-the-top verbal attacks, the more outrageous the better. He's like the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Lavrov, known to be an undiplomatic bulldog in Putin's service.

I've always thought that spouses of elected officials should really be left alone. They are not responsible for their husbands' or wives' foibles, incompetencies and political scandals.

It pains me to say this, but I'm on team Melania here. Why do we have this expectation that somebody has to play an active role in the government because they happen to be married to the president? Why do they get office space in the East Wing and a taxpayer-funded staff? I know we haven't had a never-married president since Buchanan (and likely won't soon because of the political consultants - look what they did to Tim Scott) but it would be nice if we were open to that possibility.

I was in favor of Jill Biden breaking tradition by keeping her day job and I'm in favor of Melania breaking tradition by doing whatever it is she does.

Reality is that Melania has only been at the White House for 14 days out of more than 100. They are very clearly separated. That’s why online MAGA is busy stirring up fake rumors about the Obamas divorcing just because Michelle doesn’t want to sit next to Trump at official events anymore.
