Not really relevant.

People who took out loans agreed to repay them. The people who didn't take out loans (including those who skipped college because they felt that they could not afford it or that it was not the right path for them) should not be expected to subsidize those who borrowed for education.

Yet we should be expected to subsidize big corporations and billionaire tax cuts?

You keep repeating yourself but it hasn't yet dawned on you that student loans are a weird line in the sand that you're clinging to here? And at least America benefits from having an educated workforce. We don't benefit from corporate jets and 400 million dollar CEO salaries, billionaires buying a second yacht, offshoring their riches in the Caymans, helicopter ski trips, paying millions for Trump to golf or $92m vanity military parades.

What is the deal with all the name-calling? It only comes from the side preparing to be in favor of civilized democracy. I, too, I’m in favor of student loan repayment though I did not vote for Trump. Having gone through the college admission process recently with my own child it seems very clear there are many colleges And paths to a degree that are very low cost. I’m honestly not sure why anyone graduates with huge amounts of loans anymore. It just seems that people want to do whatever they want to do and then complain that the government won’t pay for it. I don’t agree with that

Why should people have to take out massive loans just to get an education in the first place?

This. Nothing says "we don't want an educated populace" quite like the astronomical cost of college in the states (and the fact that a Bachelor's or higher is often required even for entry-level reception or customer service positions, because they want you broke enough to put up with their awful business practices).

College is basically a scam at this point.

It’s completely cruel and unfair to do this to people! Can’t you see that ?!?

Why is it unfair to collect on unpaid loans? Do you think car companies should not repossess cars when lenders don't pay?

How about someone who can barely make ends meet, and the government comes in and takes from his paycheck for child support?
Is that cruel?

Shut up you dumb-ass MAGA. Take your cruelty and go away!!

I’m torn on this. I agree the cost of education is out of control, there are too many worthless majors, and more people should consider a community college or trade.

On the flip side - I have no student loans. My parents were both teachers and things were tight growing up, we lived in a small house, I never had a car in HS or college, shared a room, I worked every summer. But my parents prioritized saving for college so neither me nor my siblings have any debt. On the flip side, many of my HS/college classmates got cars at 16, lived in nice houses, their parents had beach houses, etc. yet they have loans. Not my business to tell others how to spend their money but looking back, I’m glad mine prioritized letting me graduate debt free.

Do you believe the oil industry should repay all of the billions in subsidies it has received? Do you think Israel should repay the US for the billions in military aid it has received? Do you believe the banking industry should have to repay the billions in bailout funds it got in the subprime crisis? Do you believe Trump should have to replay the massive amounts of money he has grifted? Or is it just lowly struggling college students who need to pay?

+ a billion !

Do you believe billionaires should pay taxes?

I'm not particularly a fan of most of what you mention here, but only the student loans were constructed as loans. The others were always giveaways. No one ever agreed to repay them, unlike student loans.

Exactly. Did any of those other parties sign an agreement to repay that money? They did not.

So what if they did or didn't sign an agreement? Why should they have gotten the money in the first place? Why is that so much more important than having an educated workforce?

Around two trillion in student loans.
You assume these loans are required to have an educated workforce. The reality is the easy loan availability is the reason colleges raised their prices so much. A lot of people also don't need to be going to college, or going for as long, and since COVID more people have realized this and the numbers are down.

They don't. Education in the US can be very affordable. Schools have learned to cater to the type of student that's willing to take on a lot of debt to pay for amenities and have a great time.

“Amenities” and “a great time.” Wow, another MAGA simpleton.
Did Arizona really have to build a giant rock wall for climbing?

Because a bunch of liberal professors have managed to architect a system of useless higher education that is not responsive to free market value. It’s not responsive to free market value because the loans are infinitely available.

So the solution is to eliminate the BS programs and reduce loan availability. Our children should be learning valuable reasoning technique and useful information that leads to economic output. They should not be in a four year holding tank of useless nonsense that’s infinitely funded by the tax payer by created money that’s not being paid back.

LOL....sorry you didn't get into the school you wanted you still sound really mad.

Seriously you can tell who the people are that feel unhappy in life as soon as they post. MAGAs most certainly hate life and the world around them-which makes sense to why they connect and cheer on a convicted felon who is a racist and a rapist. I mean talk about it all adding up.
