This poster is right but young people don’t want to hear it. The pull of conformity, consumerism and online perfection is too strong. They even have to show how cool they are about being rejected.

I heard this a long time ago and it stuck with me: when you get disappointing news about a job interview, rejection of any kind, something bad happens at work... allow yourself to really sit in the sadness and disappointment of it all for 5 minutes. If there is a positive lesson to learn and pocket for future action, articulate it clearly and absorb it. Then move on. This cake thing sounds more like wallowing and dwelling which is not healthy. Do not give a school that didn't want you any thought or attention. It's time to focus on the school that did really want you and love that school.

+1 When I was in a college, senior year, we had a wall of our dorm where people would post their rejection letters from various employers, grad school etc. often with funny commentary on the form letters. It makes you feel less down to know that others are going through the same thing.
