Because saying "son I can see your testicles" makes it even weirder. For my 14 year old we have that problem with pants, so I send him back up stairs to find a pair that can reach his ankles. Anything that is too small I send them to change but only if its way too small. for short shorts I would ask him if that is the style he likes then help with his shopping to ensure he is getting the right size. If it is online and not in person I think they still need a second set of eyes at this age since they cannot try it on.

+1. I commented in another thread on boys shorts that this is how we ran around in the 80s. Only add in knee-high tube socks.

My kid wants shorts that are at his knees. I can't even get him to wear 7 or 9 inch ones....sigh.

Teacher here. A lot of the boys have on boxer briefs that stick out when they sit down because their shorts are so short. I wish we had some sort of dress code but we don’t. They don’t seem to care about this at all from a modesty point of view. It’s common in school in the high school.

OP here and um...this isn't me. I suppose one downside of DCUM's anonymous format is that impersonating people is easy. I don't know someone was pretending to be me, or why they were commenting on my son's "frontal area" (although that is admittedly the region that makes the shortness of these shorts a concern for me..lol!).

I have two sons 6" tall.

They like their shorts 5" or 7" max. Never 9".

If I thought they look inappropriate I'd have no problem letting them know.

also, My husband wears his 7" inseam or shorter if he's doing a sport. Same for the boys.

But, I also have no issue with spaghetti straps where my kids bra strap shows. There isn’t anything remotely sexual about any of this to me.

Short shorts for dudes are in. But just like we tell girls, you can also tell your son if its immodest. "Those shorts are too short, you need to buy the longer pair".

Our oldest ds is 6' tall. Our oldest dd is 5'-4". They are both in college but had come home for a break. I found a pair of tan shorts and honestly assumed they belonged to dd because they were really short. Nope, they belonged to ds. I was joking with him about how short they were and he sent me a picture of Tom Selleck from Magnum PI. (My favorite heartthrob from my teen days) omg they were the same shorts!!

It’s the style. They look too short and we can see their underwear hanging out the bottom. It’s not a good look but we are old adults. It’s a drastic change to years ago when the pants were sagging and the boxers and underwear were visible up on top. Also not a good look. Let them be, this will also pass. -teacher
