How old were your kids? If 7, I could totally see it. But by the time they hit their tweens, most kids have things they would like to donate to.

My DD when she was that age made donations to world wildlife federation for an animal her friend liked. It was pricey but I really didn’t mind paying for this. If you hit a target dollar value, they would send you a calendar or something. I loved that phase.

How about a small baking set in a cute color? My daughter is intrigued by baking, but is mostly terrible at it. A baking cookbook could be sweet, maybe with a mix and a pan?

My dd is into musicals, so depending on price, a ticket with your daughter to Annie, which I think is playing locally? Sometimes there are pay your age tickets, so this doesn’t have to be extravagant.

Fake flowers or a cool poster for their room decor?

My kids love thrifting, so a thtifted purse or t shirt or jean shorts would be sweet.

My child would be gracious regardless but would most appreciate a donation to a cause she actually cares about, ie animals or the environment. Another perspective: I recently had a mom friend lament how many kids gave her DD $50 gift cards as presents, which she deemed a bit extreme. It was a bigger party and now her DD has a ton of gift cards that she really isn't pressed to use anytime soon, thus continuing the 'child who has everything' cycle.
