DD, 14, still likes us hiding her basket. I think she likes that more or equally as much as what is inside her basket. Will do chocolate bunny, tjs takis, a gift card for $15-20, and a small stuffed animal. I probably spend $40 total and most of it is consumable. Grandparents usually give her candy and a gift card as well.

It's the whole idea of "we need stuff. What stuff do we need? Ideas for stuff?" I get it but it's sad

I was just thinking about how glad I am we don't live in the US and have avoided all this

If you can find Needoh that’s something they all want right now.

Some other ideas: a cute little cami tank or two from Hollister, a new makeup/toiletries bag, my 12 year old is very into Cirkul bottles right now which have cartridges that you insert to flavor the water. A lip balm or gloss, some of the pimple patches they like to wear, snacks and candy, GUM, they love getting gum. Tree Hut sugar scrub, a new razor, lotion or body spray, a new phone case, the Jeju Matcha packets from Trader Joe’s and a small automatic whisk if they like to make matcha at home, Bombas socks (the best socks ever), a Baggu bag, claw clips, mechanical pencils or new pens (my middle schooler loves getting these), a new book, thrifted CDs (my kids love these), Jibbitz if your kid still wears Crocs, any small toy blind bag, they love blind bags.

+1. Lots of parents of 5th graders on here who seem confused.

Thanks will do. The TIA is presumptuous.

I keep it simple and do the same thing each year. A few favorite Easter themed candies. Travel sized bath items they use. A gift card to Starbucks or a quick service place they like. That’s it.

It’s not Christmas part 2.

I've gone with a special dessert for the whole family and one treat each (like one chocolate bunny or whatever they would like the most) and stopped any Easter baskets at age 18.
