Y'all sound scared. You should be. Van Hollen is class and his efforts to defend due process are essential, honorable and totally on brand.

I hope he’s the nominee. The ads will be great.

I will support Van Hollen if no one else steps up. It must be someone committed to bringing Garcia back. If they can't declare what the Reagan judge did, they are not worthy.

Beshear has no name recognition nationwide.

Wrong. He is more well known than Clinton was in 1989 and as well known as Obama was in 2005. If he has that elite POTUS leadership vibe, he'll become well known really fast in 2027 & 2028. If he doesn't, then he won't be the nominee and that's okay.

I live in MD and have never heard of him until Yesterday.

So you are unaware that he is Maryland's Senator? Did you not vote?

Hmm Schumer?
Pelosi?
Van holler?
Buttigieg?

Nope.

Sanders and AOC.

Yep - DNC establishment ignore the populist movement at our peril.

Sanders is too old!

Bill Clinton and Barack Obama were both relatively unknown shortly before they before won the Democratic nomination.

Sometimes being a stranger is an asset.

Being new will very much be an asset in '28. The usual Democratic names have proven to be inadequate for the times. That's why people are talking about Stephen Jackson and Mark Cuban and other non-traditional candidates. And no, Van Hollen is not going to lead Democrats to victory. His El Salvador stunt was ill conceived. And if no one new arises, there is a huge opening for AOC. Mainstream DNC Democrats have proven over and over that they do not have a feel for what's going on. People will be looking for a movement leader - like an Obama. Or a Sanders. Someone that inspires and transcends the usual divisions. And that is not Van Hollen.

Van Hallon (P) and AOC (VP) my dream ticket.

Hmmm,

So Van Hollen is now your dream presidential candidate?

He goes to El Salvador to advocate the return or an MS-13 member who is also and illegal alien.

He does not go to Gaza to advocate for the release of actual US citizens from Hamas.

So why does this MS13 gang member deserve to be released more than US Citizens??

You are foolish op.

This has repeatedly been corrected. He was NOT an MS-13 member. The fact that you keep on saying it makes me think that you're a troll or just really really dumb.

He had 2 hearings on it, and lost, so yes it was determined he is a MS-13 member. The actual court documents have been posted in a few threads here.

And still the Executive and the Supreme Court agree it was a mistake to deport him.

No they did not. They said it was a mistake to deport him to El Salvador. He was still going to be deported.

Trump, as sitting POTUS, sat on his rear end refusing to respond to calls and messages containing pleas for his help for over three hours as a mob of hundreds breached security at the US Capitol Building and chased our most prominent elected officials to the basement seeking to "hang" the American VP. Trump then got re-elected four years later.

Don't ever underestimate the stupidity of the American voter. No reason to think Van Hollen's career is over due to a trip to El Salvador.

Sorry, I don’t think the American public is stupid. That condescension towards our countrymen is appalling in my eyes.

No they aren't generally speaking but any objective impartial person who was presented with the facts of what the American sitting POTUS did while the US's most prominent leaders were under attack a mile away at the US Capitol Building and then you told them that person was re-elected, the objective impartial person would either not believe the info presented to them or they would lose all faith in the intelligence of the American electorate.

Um, we all lived it. Trump was re elected in a landslide. If you can’t figure out that your view on all that is the minority’s - well that’s on you.

Trump won and almost secured 50% of the popular vote. Almost secured 50% of the popular vote. Can you just imagine the beat down McCain or Romney would have put on the Dems in a situation where the Dem incumbent had a 40% approval rating and saw his campaign collapse to the extent he had to call it quits just three months prior to Election Day???

From a numbers perspective, the 2024 election results for the Dems were much more favorable than they could have and should have been considering the Biden debacle and we only have the awful opponent to thank for that.

The cream will rise to the top if given a chance to in a fair and open primary.
