Just another equity move. Everyone knows AP exams are elitist.

I teach in a trailer behind one of the super big secondary schools. My kids right now use a back door to the main building that is right by my trailer. How does this work?

Are they going to require kids go through the front door and get a pass to come to my first block?

Will kids no longer be able to use the back door and instead have to walk the perimeter or the school to get to the front door during passing periods after my class?

Will they keep the metal detector staffed all day for when kids go in and out of the building to their classes in the trailers?

Students who had academy at Fairfax today told me it only ran before school and after that it was gone, so if kids get to school late are they just exempt from being checked? Or was that just a today oddity?

Pleeeeeease let this not happen on a standardized testing day. I don’t want to deal with the chaos.

Our school has to get 3000 kids through one entrance.

How is that going to work on AP testing days when 2900 kids need get through the door so half the school can be seated no later than 7:50 for the tests that start at 8AM?

How will that work when LB, Hayfield and SoCo need to get nearly 4500 students through one metal detector at a single door in time to take their AP exams.
AP test weeks is a terrible time to pilot this feature.

Thank Good the waiting area at the gum detectors are bulletproof, so no one can shoot the throng of kids.

They need metal detectors at every middle school and high school so kids don’t die or face other grave consequences. Other schools around the country do this and FCPS is behind because they aren’t prioritizing safety. It doesn’t matter if it takes extra time to get into the building. That’s better than having weapons and drugs in schools. Also need more school resource officers, security guards, and counselors, and drug detection systems. The fighting and vaping is out of control and FCPS is failing the students and our countries future.

Someone let us know how it works with disconnected buildings and open campuses (e.g., McLean).

If the company was smart they would offer an extra system to test at West Potomac.

It's a pilot. FCPS isn't paying for it, the company is trying to sell us something. Duh.

Who cares if it works as long as the money is spent?

It works if it's at all the entrances, but FCPS pilot is only placing 1 and that's the main entrance. Other entrances will be locked.

Hayfield, Robo, and LBSS have 4000+ students. Fcps is expecting all 4000 kids to line up at the main entrance (where do 4000 kids even stand?), tinker around their bags to remove 3 ring binders/metal water bottles/laptop, etc (yes, those items will setoff the alarm), and still get to class on time?
