The article was not well written and several parts of it do not make sense.

Also, Nassau has been at a level 2 advisory for much longer than since 3/30. Cruise lines have been warning people for a year or more.

Well, this is new information. Obviously if he spat on someone, he deserved to be unalived.

Of course not, but the real story is not "tourist goes for walk on the beach and is jumped, and murdered" like OP's post implies. The real story is "tourist spits on multiple hotel staff, tells his mother he is going for a walk, the hotel security are searching for him because he was spitting on staff members, and they find him beaten up on the beach". If you can't see the difference in terms of safety for hotel guests, then, I can't help you.

He was not ”beaten up.” He was “beaten to death.”

I don’t really want to stay at a place if the staff are capable of that, when customers get out of line.

Have you ever had a passport, Cletus?

To be sure, Nassau is basically Florida. I mean, you can practically swim there from the Florida coast.

Yes, but it's less easy access and boring and isolated (Atlantis that is). Really zero point going there.

What if he was having some kind of episode? What if it was a misunderstanding? You think it’s okay for hotel staff to go beat someone up because of some altercation? That’s insane.

I agree that we do not know the entire story. But how can someone spitting [i]on others be "a misunderstanding"?????

I would have thought nothing of going back to room to grab a coat and coming back and doing it alone. Wonder if he was doing a short cut from the restaurant area to beach to room and someone jumped him. This is really sad and scary!!

No it is not. It has been a dumb for years.

Over priced crappy rooms literally the doors to the rooms can be pushed in even with a deadbolt.

Food is horrible and ridiculously over priced.

Crime has been a huge thing for years. They even warn you constantly.

The last time we were there their most expensive rooms next door to us two people tried to kill each other. Security was abysmal.

+1
I just read the article and, yes, they were already looking for the young man for an incident he had. Much more to this "innocent poor boy" story I think.

Exactly this. Did they make up the spitting story or is there some evidence to back it up.

Who spits on people? It's actually hard to do.

I don't think anyone is saying he got what he deserved. They're saying "this sounds like something crazy precipitated the attack, not just a tourist walking to his room getting randomly jumped and beaten to death." And you're the only person suggesting that the attack was perpetrated by hotel staff!

It sounds like he was either falling down drunk or, like you said, having some kind of mental health episode. Whichever it was, it led to him physically assaulting multiple people inside the restaurant before he was kicked out, and then [we don't know what he did after being kicked out, but] when they went to look for him they found his body. The fact that he was a man who was kicked out of a restaurant that same night for spitting on multiple people is relevant to the narrative, not just "MD man".

Does it really sound like that? Mom and Dad let him wander off to the room alone in either of these scenarios while they finished their dinner?

I mean the alternative is that he was normal at dinner, told mom he was going to get his jacket and take a walk, and on the way out/ unbeknownst to his mom/ he spat on the servers. And then, while he was being actively searched for by hotel security, he was found beaten to death. The spitting/ hotel security incident happened prior to him being found dead so it doesn’t sound to me like a cover up. It sounds like he was assaulting people who worked there and then ended up dead not long after. Maybe he approached someone on the beach and tried the same thing and it ended badly. Who knows. But I would believe that his mother might not have seen him spitting on people.

The quote from the story is the mother would not corroborate the spitting. Didn't deny it. Didn't say, he would never. Also hard to believe doing something like this in a restaurant wouldn't attract a lot of attention and could possibly be missed. I agree your alternative is possible though.

Another alternative is this person behaves this way and mom and dad know it and don't care or are just sick of it and wanted to enjoy the rest of their meal in peace.
