If she wants to play multiple sports now and isn’t focused on playing soccer in college, then ECNL-R may be a better option. Most of the GA teams in DMV will be light years ahead of the ECNL-R teams in the area, although a step (or three) behind the local ECNL teams.
Agree if you are going to SYC, VRSC, McLean, NVA or Loudoun, go GA. Think the hardest decision would be do you leave Arlington, GFR, Vienna, Stafford RL team for Alexandria.
I would go to the Alexandria tryouts and see what the turnout is like. Probably enough talent from those RL teams to put together a decent GA team.
You're missing the point. GA is much stronger than ECNL-RL. If you're filling your GA team with RL players, you're not going to be competitive in GA.
Agree, if you're going GA you'll want to be on a team competitive in the GA, and one stacked with RL players will not be competitive. It may become competitive after a few years.. maybe. But not out the gate.

Loudoun will be made up of RL (or Black for 2013) team players, so they definitely will not dominate GA. The strongest GA teams will be NVA and SYC, then VRSC, as they are the only GA clubs that (1) have decent first teams pre-GA and (2) will fill their GA teams with players from those first teams. MYS's first team players went / are going to Union, so their GA teams will be filled with second and third team players. TSJ's and ASA's first teams are weak, so even if their GA teams keep their first team players, those GA teams will be not be competitive.
Again, depends on the age group. I think 8 girls left NVA's 09 team for Union after NVA went to GA. And while that's an older age group if we are talking about younger I'd get on a "top" GA team now than a "top" RL team b/c in a few years MYS should be stronger with GA more established there. The clubs left with RL will either feed into ECNL which probably isn't an option for this player or they wouldn't be asking or they're at a club without a direct path to ECNL at all.

Anonymous wrote:I agree. Do you think McLean will continue to go FVU or a one year plan because of DB? It will be really interesting to see how 2012, 2013, etc migrate over time. Stay with club in GA or look to go ECNL over time. I suppose a lot of this has to do with whether ECNL continues to stay the stronger platform for girls.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:If kid is younger GA is going to be hands down better in RL The incoming GA teams have been beating down the future ECNL teams never mind the left overs in RL.
