It’s not about skin color in McPS for students. It’s about what the native language is. All the resources are for EML it seems.

There should be flexible ability grouping (not tracking) at local schools, in all grades, including elementary.

We should still have magnet programs where the top students (rather through brilliant intelligence/high IQ or motivation/hard work) can challenge themselves as much as they wish. We should add seats to the magnet program to accommodate more students.

We have a great working system in high schools where there are great magnet programs (that also need more seats), but each high school also offers AP/IB classes, honors classes, grade-level classes, and remedial classes. It isn’t a choice of either/or, students should have the option to pursue as much education as they want.

The use of these tests to determine anything should be outlawed. I've seen how the sausage is made with them. Someday they'll be gone.

Maybe what’s best is no CES, but to fight for differentiated instruction within the school. And I’m not talking about within the classroom, but that kids move classrooms based on their level. This benefits students and teachers and reduces costs to the county by eliminating extra bussing.

I want the bolded, certainly. IQ and cognitive test scores form a bell curve, there's a lot of variability in the lower and upper 1%. They really should give those seats to the top scorers, because these kids are often miserable in regular classes. The test cannot be "practiced" like knowledge test such as the SAT, it's a cognitive function test, which is very different.

Yes. I’m tired of MCPS and MD continuing to tax us to death, even with the fed money. And they think they can afford throw back that fed money out of pride? We need every penny, especially now during inflation and not knowing what crazy sh$t will happen each day. Just swallow your pride and go along with the fed, we need the money. And stop taxing us to death!! You can always revert back with the next administration.
