I do the same. Never hire the kids who went to big camps and summer internships. Never once had a paycheck. No work ethic
My kid went to a great summer camp until he aged out. He's had regular summer jobs ever since. Plenty of other kids are just like him.

All planned last year, paying for them both over time.
This is likely the last summer for these types of experiences for both.
