This fits Georgetown like a glove. Your worry is misplaced and ill-informed: DS is the prototypical Georgetown student.

This makes no sense to me. I have a super social varsity baseball player and he LOVED UVA and had zero interest in Georgetown.

The bolded comments makes no sense. Both the statements above can be true at the same time - it's called a dialectic. The first poster is correct that a smart, athletic, social kid will fit right it at Georgetown.

My kid chose Georgetown over the two

So did mine, better for major and national reputation.

FWIW, UVA tends to send more to Goldman than Georgetown, but neither sends very many.

If you think you are going to be in the bottom half of your class, don't go to UVA.

UVA has the whole package.

Do you know how many varsity HS players there are in the country?? It’s not that unique. Georgetown is known for a very athletic student body —Jesuit schools tend to be that way. Without Greek presence socialization is around their club sports/intramurals and varsity.

And for some stats behind this, they accepted 51% of applicants each of the past two years (367/722 last year). So there are a lot of disappointed UVA students.

NP. My DS feels like UVA is risky because of the 50% chance of rejection from the commerce school. That is a lot of pressure for your first year in college. No room for error. Why don’t these schools just triple the size of the business school? I am serious. It is what most kids want to study these days. Literally 90% of my DS’s friends want to study business. Same for DD that is currently in college (in the business school). If they aren’t business, a handful are pre-med or pre-law.

Major - Business

Tuition is not a factor
He is a baseball varsity player and has been very social all his life. So I worry that Georgetown will not give him the social sportsy college town feel but he is unable to accept that someone can say no to Georgetown if they get in especially McDonough vs going into UvA and then trying for McIntyre though I believe he will be able to get in based on his personality and social aptitude towards clubs etc

Also he is not sure about going into IB/Consulting/Finance yet ,
Will most probably lean towards management.

The settings are so different. No one should be making this big of an investment decision by the feelings of people on the internet. Get to the campuses for a day or two in the next month and let them make the decision.
