My daughter and I both have this Lululemon backpack. It's fantastic. Elegant enough for work in the city, durable enough for campus. She's messy and it still looks great a couple of years in.

Most kids carry backpacks.

I think I was the only student carrying a messenger bag on campus bag in the day.

Let her pick something out.

How about something like this which is a cross between a backpack and a nice designer purse?
I love Le Tanneur brand. Their quality is excellent.

"multiple textbooks"? funny

Mine had only 1 physical textbook last semester, but 5 this semester. She was pissed, haha.

She carts around her laptop, water bottle, iPad (for notetaking), textbook or 2, sometimes her sketchbook (for art class). Backpack is crucial.

Presumably OP’s daughter’s college campus will be much larger than her high school. The extra walking is often what drives the need for a backpack.
