An update of the (somewhat controversial) list from last year. Mostly the same as last year, but with a few colleges swapped out
New to this year's list:
WashU St. Louis
Tufts
Purdue
West Point
UPitt
William & Mary
The addition of washU and W&M make the list better than last years list…but…why the obsession with a sports league? Why not just borderline-elites or something.
W&M is no where near an ivy for heavens sake
Deep breaths, Linda
I think the fact that you read that comment as aggressive or angry is where you should take many breaths. It’s just true.
No objections to any of the other publics on the list. Funny.
Make your point…

There is no such a thing as NEW IVIES…..
There will never be a “new ivy”.
This is a sport league.
And yes, I know all the moms and kids here who didnt get in like when [insert you school name here] gets on those list, but it is better to move on and accept that you DID NOT get in an Ivy League school and accept and be happy with where you are….
I think the term is a little questionable, but the idea - compiling a list of schools most attractive to employers with selectivity and quality academics, is not a bad idea.
That is fine, but no need to call it Ivy-adjacent. Maybe it’s just me, but it doesn’t make me think more of the schools, it makes me think less. They are great schools, stand in it.
You think less of a school because a random unaffiliated magazine puts on a meaningless list? Mmmkay.
When they tout it in their marketing, yes. Comes off desperate and I think they are better than that.

Anonymous wrote:It’s better for everyone to just stop pretending that the Ivies are somehow intrinsically different or better than other colleges. It’s just an athletic league; other than that and geography, they don’t necessarily have tremendous similarities. Other colleges don’t need to call themselves Ivy+, or Hidden Ivies, or Public Ivies. Many of these are already better than some Ivies as it is.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:West Point…seriously wtf? How is that in any way shape or form even remotely like any Ivy?
It's ranked higher than Barnard, Davidson, and Harvey Mudd. Seems fine to me.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I think it's a list of the Not Ivies?
+1
This is beyond ridiculous. Who comes up with this nonsense?
Calm down. It's just a marketing thing.
Marketing for idiots?
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Great marketing for the new universities. God knows UVA milked last years list
UNC did the same thing, not sure if it was last year's though.
So this is like us news where they shake up the list ever year to keep it interesting?
