barebells only have 200 calories. That’s not a meal replacement. I hope you are not doing this as a meal replacement on a regular basis.

OP-Barebells and many of the quest bars are good with ok ingredients. And they don’t taste like crap.

I eat protein bars when i’m starving and in between shuttling my kids around to activities. I’m laughing at the thought of shoving smoked salmon in my mouth during that time. Oh, DCUM.

Perhaps try eating like a human with manners. Why the need to shove food in your face?

Way to miss the point.

9g of protein for over 200 calories. That’s a candy bar.

They are all basically candy bars. Eat real food.

This. And the lower calorie bars are made of garbage artificial sweeteners. I keep chomps Turkey sticks stocked in the pantry, and meatballs and chicken cutlets in the fridge.

There is nothing wrong with artificial sweeteners. It’s the same as everything else, moderation.

Yeah, sure.

Exactly - I stash bars in my car and tote bag for when I’m stuck for hours at a field or driving kids to/from. I don’t usually have my chicken cutlets on me.

I like some of the quest and atkins bars - Rx tastes good but sticks to my teeth and tough to chew.

Make your own organic grass fed beef jerky. So easy, takes very little prep time, very healthy.

There is nothing wrong with artificial sweeteners. It’s the same as everything else, moderation. It’s the same people who scream about this kind of food being garbage who then eat fried food covered in grease without a thought. Going around telling people what they want to eat is garbage is a you problem-it makes you feel superior.

I really don’t care what you or anyone else eats, I was responding to OP who was looking for quick high protein options and asked for high protein bars that are “not garbage.” You really can’t get high-protein-not-garbage-bar w/o super high calories, and the low calorie bars are, in fact, garbage. I was offering an alternative that could help them w their fast protein objective.

As an aside, There’s actually a lot wrong with artificial sweeteners, just do a quick Google search or ask your doctor. According to my doctor, it’s better to eat a little of the real thing, than eat garbage substitutes. Moderation, but w/ real food.

I'm obsessed with protein and here is what I do to make it easier:

I buy all these things from whole foods deli section and eat throughout the week:

Cooked chicken tenders
Marinated bean salad -- they used to have chick peas, always have "gigante" beans
Chicken salad
Smoked salmon

I also roast meat, like pork, and just eat it for a few days.

I totally agree with eating real food, however, I keep Quest mini bars in the car and at my desk in order to keep me from getting hangry when I'm unable to eat. Or when I am craving something sweet.

80 calories, 8 grams of protein, less than one gram of sugar
