BU has a 4-year housing guarantee, so I wonder if your kid will get off the waiting list soon.
Some students do live off-campus, but they usually share to keep costs down.
My daughter is staying in Boston for the summer and subleased a room for $1,600 a month. If you're looking for an entire unit for yourself, I think it’s pretty expensive.

Old, moldy, some downright gross bathrooms. Cracked floor tiles, windows that won't fully close or open, heat that blows over 100 with no way to adjust. RA was moved out for a few days for visible mold in her room. My kid hasn't seen any bugs or rodents just a really old building. Yes, it's an historic building but some of the bathrooms really need some upgrading. It's liveable for a year but definitely not a nice dorm.

No, they won't. Some will get nicer ones and some will get even worse ones. It's just the reality of BU housing. You could end up in a really old decrepit building. Just stating facts here.
I have a kid at a large public with mostly triples and while crowded, their rooms and bathrooms are way nicer. I just assumed private schools of this price point would have amazing dorms. The fact that the university can't at a minimum repair the bathroom floor is crazy.

Danielson might be one of the worst dorms to get assigned based on reddit and ratemydorm. My daughter will be attending this fall and stayed 2 nights with a freshman in Warren and said it was “fine”. They are now renovating Warren for the next 3 years and are adding AC, redoing the plumbing and bathrooms, so should be nicer in a few years. The upperclassmen housing buildings Stuvi are supposed to be really nice.
The student village is great -- the first was built like 20 years ago and the others in the ten years following. The individual bed rooms are tiny, but decent space otherwise.
