If you're on the waitlist … you're not taking away someone else's spot. As someone else said … it's not a big deal. It's funny to me that there are people here who would actually get upset about that.

Ignore them. Thanks for responding to my post with that info! He is in somewhere he loves already so all is good - keeping apps open just in case some acceptance were to come with $$ or honors that he couldn't turn down.

I think my kid is awesome and so do some other great schools, just because Wash U put him on the wait list doesn't mean he's not awesome and doesn't mean they are yield protecting.
There are only so many seats on that train.
My advice is to buy a lot of train tickets. So far, 3 have worked out, 1 didn't and 1 he's on standby.
