If you organize a party, buy food, party supplies, most of it will get used and some of it will be redundant. Your party will still be a success because you delivered and met your goal. In any event, any party, any cause, there is often a small amount of redundancy or waste. That is a natural phenomenon. But you don't say because you had some redundancy and wastage in your party, you won't throw a party ever again. USAID causes are at a very high, global level, often happening in highly volatile political environments of poor nations. Even then, the programs have delivered value, helped stop spread of diseases, protected women from rapes, reduced childbirth deaths and so on. The idea is to look at 98% of good and appreciate it.

There’s a lot of intangible benefits from the USAID work, or there was I guess. They can’t be measured in just financial terms. No one got money for nothing, value was always extracted in some way. I would guess the US benefited more from it than any recipient. That stuff is not obvious though and would go over the head of many people, especially if they’re just bean counters.

It seems like many people are unaware that other developed countries also give out aid to developing countries. The US is not the only country to aid.

It's "USAID" not US Aid.
