If 2 players added to the opponent's team folded this team, they weren't that strong to begin with. The local competition is non existent across all age groups and beating NVA is not an exceptional accomplishment.

Not just “2 players”. 2 elite level players. That can decide a game.

We can agree to disagree.

Every 2011 team can use trapped players for the spring season per ECNL rules. A team can only use two trapped players a game and that trapped player can’t play another ECNL game on the same day.

A trapped player is an 8th grader whose birth year is 2010. There is no spring season for Mid-Atlantic ECNL so that girls can play high school soccer. So the trapped player’s regular teammates are off playing high school but they are still in middle school with no team to play on. ECNL therefore allows them to play with other 8th graders (2011 teams).

8th grade teams always try to use their trap players to gain an advantage in the spring. It’s always done and nothing to cry foul about.

Thanks, this was informative.

We should probably move on from the trapped topic, thanks for the details. How about conference champions this year? VDA has a few, congrats!

If you don't understand the rules around trapped players, then this discussion is not for you.

If they are allowed to play like a regular 2011, then why is anyone even mentioning it? Who cares and what difference does it make?

VDA knew what they had and played their two trapped players for most of the game. Smart move for a potential spot in playoffs. The arlington trapped players played maybe half the game which is more expected and fair to current players on the younger team

Let’s be clear - Arlington also had two trapped players from 2010 play during that game.

And for those who keep using the term trapped - at least one of the VDA players is a 2011 who plays up. So she’s not trapped. She is probably the best 2011 individual player in the area.

- signed a non-VDA, non-Arlington parent who has seen both teams play

Sounds personal. Way to throw your own players under the bus. Bravo Arlington parents. Keep winning on here
