Subject: Cultural Anthroplogy Majors
I have a PhD in anthropology as well.
Most of the people I went to college with went into different fields for work. The traditional liberal arts path of "have a random degree from a good school and then go into an unrelated corporate job." I assume this path is still open to people from top schools with lots of campus recruiting but may be harder for others.
Most of the people I went to grad school with are either professors or in UX design in tech. I know as many of us who left the museum field as stayed, the pay is really bad. I went into government for a 50% pay raise as a GS-11. Wouldn't recommend museums...but I wouldn't recommend government anymore either.
