Unless you get the reinvestment timing right you do not know anything yet.

Reinvestment will happen with stocks not in the Us...move money overseas and invest in ahem eastern europe...

I would take the cash out now while you still can. It's not going to get better. At all.

All the bipolar moves on tariffs and yelling at our European allies is super great for stocks. This is all totally normal and not something a cult leader would do or that his cult would cheer on. These are normal times!

Also, PP is correct. I've made millions in the stock market. The stock market has been volatile ever since Trump came to office and all indices had a bad day today. Tomorrow the Commerce secretary said there might be a compromise on tariffs - the stock market has always been the pride and joy of Trump, and this White House doesn't like seeing it slide like that.

I cashed out of a portion of my stocks in February, something I've never done before in my 20 years of investing. I will be staying liquid until I can buy one of last dips before the market stabilizes.

lol. “The pride and joy”…yeah that explains why we are destroying our ties with trade partners. You think it’ll just move on to business as usual? All the threats to annex Greenland and Canada? We’ll be lucky if we can build back any goodwill and not permanently impact our trade relations. But yeah, Trump totally is a caring person who makes rational decisions.

It's inconceivable to me that your investments aren't down this year.

If you’re in a lot of index funds, they’re not really down year to date. What are you invested in that is doing so poorly?

index fund is flat or little down so far 2025 ! increase in Jan decrease in Feb. Decrease up to now in March.

Right. Not really down year to date. My index funds are holding steady right now.

Someone who has lost a lot year-to-date is probably not in index funds.

so many federal employees are out of the jobs. We don't know how many contractors are out of the jobs. tariff on and off. It is very hard for the market to move up in the short period like the next 3 months ?

Yes. Maybe.

Not looking is certainly an option. But the world will not be the same again, so I don’t know if the old methods like waiting it out will work. I expect a lot of things we’re used to will be gone out permanently damaged.

None of us know the future. And most people who game the economy or their investments do horribly. What are you doing to mitigate "the world not being the same again"?

For 30 yrs of investment. Mid Feb of this year was the first time that I sold some of my taxable investment to increase my emergency money account balance. tariff delay, tariff and now delay auto parts tariff ? Can they do better homework before decide tariff or not ? I can not look at my account.

Huh? The S&P500 is flat so far in 2025.
