Does it bother you that VT passed W&M in USNWR? VT is also larger than W&M so you can’t be certain the methodology won’t favor JMU in the future. I doubt many W&M boosters ever thought they would be passed by VT in USNWR but it happened.
No not at all. And I agree with you on your second point and third points. My point was it's a blanket statement on rankings so it really wasn't correct and then the national ranking I am sure the poster was referring to was USN&WR and the differential was just by one point! I detest rankings and when people make blanket statements like that it implies one school is better than the other. You can't compare them that way. It's like comparing apples and oranges.
All three schools are great schools. Virginia is blessed to have these schools where our children can attend.

Subject: Is JMU on the rise?
JMU is a great school that offers tons of opportunities to all kinds of students. It’s also a beautiful campus surrounded by a very scenic area. My son is a junior there and so happy. His roommates and close friends come from all over the East coast, as well as Texas, Ohio, and Illinois. It’s a very popular school already, and for good reason.

Comparing Tech to W&M is like apples and oranges. Tech is huge research Univ whereas W&M small research plus focus on undergraduate teaching.

Yikes. Why is JMU's endowment so low? I have a person connection to JMU and I find this troubling........
What is your concern exactly? Former teachers college that didn't become a "university" until 1971. 2 years ago classified R2. Heavily supported by the state. Unfortunately my $1,000 donation doesn't move the needle.

My niece (10th grader) in San Francisco has already received multiple mailings from JMU, so it would seem they're aggressive out of state.
