I’m a millennial so maybe I’m just too close to see it but I don’t see a huge difference between my peers in their 30s and older coworkers in their 40s and 50s. Maybe it’s just the culture of my workplace but everyone is showing up, putting in work, collaborating. Most of us have kids and people will need to leave early or take a day off for family stuff but I genuinely don’t see a specific generation abusing this.

My kids are gen Z, I'm borderline gen X/millenial.

No one in the family behaves in the way you describe, OP. And my kids' friends don't either. They're all smart and driven but they don't bray about it.

If you're mainly observing this at work, then it could be a flaw in the way your hiring manager picks people. They're going for the outgoing brash people, instead of trying to suss out who is actually competent. It's a common mistake to make, but a mistake nonetheless.

^ and I was raised very free range, latch key kid, no extra coddling or help or tutors or support. Not saying that’s ideal, but it’s how it was.

Gen Z people seem to be in a stupor. They give off an “I’m a creep, I don’t being here” vibe, which I can relate to.

It shows how spoiled and narcissistic millennials are when they, who were raised through the 80s and 90s with boomer parents giving them tutors, fashionable clothes, sat classes, college tuitions, care, love, attention, and self-esteem; and who have gifted said parents with disassociation, trauma, doggie grandchildren, and blame- think that gen xers are the problem in the workplace.

Lots of delusional millenials. They were raised in the era of promoting high self esteem and participation trophies. Not entirely terrible of course but it can lead to a disconnect in the real world
