With so many trying out coaches can get confused. Blur of brunettes (especially) w/a ponytail. All good, mostly. Coaches can get confused, who's who. DD decided to look the same every day, wear the same thing to tryouts. Obviously sashed her clothes. She made the team, who knows?

Less girls play sports than boys. It's why most clubs have more boys teams than girls. The same thing occurs in other sports like basketball, baseball/softball

Some kids who had only played rec soccer made the JV team last year at our school. Some kids who had played club were cut.

A lot fewer girls play all sports compared to boys or want to play high school sports. MUCH easier to make any girls team at our school (basketball is walk on for freshman girls! freshman boys basketball cut 30 kids).

Don't know why but definitely fewer on girls side. My DD is a freshman at a Class 4 size high school in VA and there are around 50-55 girls in total trying out for varsity and JV. Definitely some rec players who will be cut but some rec players who will make the bench on JV.

Could be. I'll have a girl who will be trying out for high school soccer next year, but just speculating out loud based on my own high school experience.

Do you think coaches look at the teams these kids are on to help make decisions, or do they just go off tryout performances? Just wondering if a lower level kid has a shot if they are doing well in tryouts.
