Ok that was when US and Colombia were in a standoff a few weeks ago. Yes it happens and it was resolved. Those visas don't come without strings especially now.

Great, does that mean we can finally exempt US citizens living and earning abroad from paying US taxes? The rationale was you benefit from being a US citizen no matter where you live. Very few countries tax the income of their citizens who live abroad.


This is why people take out travel insurance. There is an inherent risk in travel. Naturally the government gets more involved in extraordinary cases.

World Bank people get G-4 visas. Diplomatic visas are A-1 or A-2. How did a World Bank employee have an A-1 visa instead of a G-4? Was it a politcal position?


They were on G4 visas and returning home from regular work trips.

Colombia. Three World Bank officers refused reentry. The US had done this before. Pretty sure there was similar case over 10 or 15 years ago where officer refused reentry for two years (family still in DC) and visa immediately granted on change of administration.
