MIT is a hideous campus but so what? It’s MIT.
UGA is an amazing school- it’s getting stronger and stronger by the year. It’s slightly below UF and UT. They are all fantastic- my kid got into all 3 and he has a tough choice!
Campus experience is why so many kids are heading to southern flagships. UGA’s campus experience and Athens beats UF hands down.

Doubtful 5-10 years ago but not now.
My son was admitted to both UT Austin and UF and I don't share your opinion that one is remarkably stronger than the other and I've done a ton of research. Both are great schools hence why they are both considered "Public Ivies". My son is struggling with his decision for sure. To your point about UGA and UF. I will just say that UF received over 90,000 applications this admissions cycle. UGA received 47,850 (just almost half of UF and UT Austin). UF admissions rate will fall somewhere around 13% this cycle. Average ACT is really high along with the average GPA being well over 4.0. UGA will probably be around 30-33%. UGA's officially reported average overall GPA this cycle was 3.81, average ACT 29 and SAT 1285. I'm not saying that UGA is not a good school because I think it is a really good school overall. UF is just incredibly selective these days and is a "public ivie" and ranked 7th among public universities by US News for a reason.

And some of us disagree because of UF’a reliance on online classes and some of the restrictions placed on it by its governor. But you get to send your kid wherever you want.
"because of UF’a reliance on online classes" Sorry, but this is complete myth and nonsense. Online classes, like at all large public universities, exist but students do not need to take them. Some do because many students like them and find it flexible in their schedules and choose to that rather than in person. Nevertheless these are always low level electives. Even with most of the online classes, students still have the option to go to the classroom and watch live.

The average admitted stats for UGA are much higher. https://www.admissions.uga.edu/blog/2025-uga-overall-ea-admissions/
That's very skewed. UGA notoriously defers a lot of applicants in early action and then accepts a lot of those deferred applicants in regular pool when a lot of the admitted "higher stats" kids in early action go elsewhere. Don't forget their early action decision is in early December which is very early in the process for these kids. Need to look at the entire pool to get a glimpse of where things will fall ultimately.

Can anyone share their kids experiences from last year?
It is my kids number one. Knows of 4 kids from 2 years ago who were accepted with RD from our HS.
The wait is excruciating.
