Sad.

Bystanders could easily have been hit too.

The overall decline of union station is a landlord/developer thing. I doubt this particular murder has anything to do with it anyway but it’s not because of crime, it’s because of a lease dispute. The management tried to kill it on purpose.

Remind me, is this Nadeau or Allen’s fault? This people shouldn’t just be fired, they should go to jail

"Detectives are reviewing video footage that shows the victim and shooter walked into the waiting area of the garage — which services Greyhound and other bus lines — and “seemed to know each other,” Smith said.

Smith said the victim grabbed something off the shooting suspect, who then began firing their gun. The victim then ran out of the waiting area and collapsed near the escalator, she said."

Based on this description, I don't know what Union Station or the DC police could have done to specifically prevent this incident, other than hiring 10,000 extra police to guard every public space in the city.

More generally, we need to get guns off the street.

Why should I not be permitted to legally carry my gun because a criminally illegally carried and used one?

How does restricting me make you or anyone else safer? I was no danger to you to begin with, and the people who ARE a danger to you will ignore the law anyway. So how are you safer if I’m more vulnerable?

Because you’re not as good a shot as you think you are.

Given the number of federal and other law enforcement agencies in the DC area, including armed military personnel, the public transportation system has always been filled with uncountable armed persons, a not insignificant number of whom have marksmanship skills that even a moderately enthusiastic but regular shooter would put to shame. Restricting decent people does not increase safety.

I shoot competitively and I’ve never encounter a LEO that could shoot as well as I do.

Not saying they don’t exist. But I’m definitely saying I’ve never met one in a decade of competitive shooting on a regional/national level.

Most cops shoot a couple hundred rounds of practice shooting each year. I shoot more than that in a slow month. I might shoot several thousand rounds in a month just getting ready for a national level event. That’s more practice than they do in their entire law enforcement career.

And certainly shoot better than any criminal.

This is definitely Biden’s fault. 100% guarantee the shooter was released from custody for prior violent crimes under the Biden administration.

This is a safe bet.
