NP. I do not agree with above except the 2nd point of new problems. I agree that there are no perfect places to live. HOWEVER, consider that some problems are easier to live with than others Different problems mean different stress levels.

I also don't believe that life would be worse anywhere other than in US. It truly depends on your priorities and needs. What you are suggesting PP is that ONLY Americans have it good. That's just completely untrue. I agree that the grass may seem greener on the other side because you're not actually there but I think some people would likely find happiness elsewhere. Not everyone but some who have done extensive research and may just be able to find their place that happens to not be anywhere in the US. It is so dependent of each individual. Global warming will impact other countries but it also impacts the US. Take avian flu knocking out eggs in the US - they don't experience that in Canada and throughout Europe because culturally, they have a different lifestyle than we do - they don't mass produce their fresh foods on the scale that Americans typically do. Americans have a huge population and moving somewhere with less people takes the edge off in so many ways - less violence, fresher food opportunities, a simpler lifestyle. It's not for everyone and it's hard to change your lifestyle if you're used to a certain way but some people really are dreadfully unhappy and never really fit the lifestyle in the US to start with and for those people, it's an option to find a place that aligns with their habits better.

I think a lot of people discount how hard making a perm move to another country really is - this doesn't actually work unless you are very familiar with the lifestyles you'll have in the new place and you really have to be in a position where separation from your family/friends is going to work. BUT by the same token, like PP, America is NOT the end all and be all of human civilization. There are so many other ways to have a life than the ways we have set up. America is not #1 in that context and we aren't the "best" place to live on earth. Not by a long shot. It's not just about Trump but about our culture.

NP. Here's my perspective on her comments - there is indeed the greatest global opportunities to be found in the USA. Full stop. Culturally, realistically and economically speaking, the number one quality that is par excellence in the US that cannot be found per SS in any other country in the world is both the propensity to leverage opportunity and the desire to create and maximize opportunity. Full stop. Sales is what we do best as Americans.

Now here's the part to consider - while I believe her about UK moving slower and even maybe more mediocre as she puts it - culturally speaking, its strengths are exactly in holistic living - much like in many progressive and developed countries. In other words, my interest and attraction for wanting to be in Europe may be to exactly experience a life that isn't all about opportunity. It to about my interest to take 6-8 wk vacations, to not worry about health insurance coverage, to not need 50 choices of any one packaged food item and to really just enjoy being an average human being.

So it depends on what you are seeking I suppose that will determine your feeling of home in any given country.

I tend to disagree with her on education I must say however. I sincerely feel public education in the US is severely lackluster v most of peer countries incl UK. I would go as far as to suggest that London School of Econ has stronger talent on finance majors these days than top American universities because my company regularly prefers college recruiting grads from there over American schools in recent years. I would also suggest that as an average middle class person, that life full of amazing opportunities in the US will be also be amazingly harder to live with respect to feeling more stress, financial pressures and mental health challenges than countries without amazing opportunities.

It's just a choice everyone makes for the kind of life they want.

They enjoy the trolling and seeing people be upset, and suffering of others is big kick for them. It’s part of their psyche. A new forum for them only would not provide that.
