There are only 6000 AUSAs and the overwhelming majority prosecute a mix of violent street crime, drug distribution, gun, child exploitation, and immigration offenses. I don’t see Trump or Musk coming at us.
Obviously those who have worked on high-profile cases unpopular with this administration (J6, FACE Act cases) are differently situated.
And just as obviously that points the way to other prosecutions to later be disfavored, and the people who worked on them fired and replaced by political appointees.
I hope it doesn’t happen. But no one can afford to be complacent.
Huh? They won't allow cases to be prosecuted that they don't want prosecuted.

Yes- republicans love their national parks too but most don’t think they need to be staffed. They think they should be fully open during shutdowns and don’t need workers. And more hunting allowed

I get special pay like 255K/yr, and we're very highly in demand. Should I decide to leave CISA and go to work for financial service company, my salary should be easily around 400K/yr.

A lot of public interest stuff should be safe. I'm imagining those who deal with Medicare, SS, passport services etc. A lot of these jobs are already understaffed.

I’m legislative branch (GAO) and while we’re more secure momentarily I know a lot of us are worried about the CG’s term ending in Dec 2025 and the next 15 year appointment.

WTF?! I say this as someone who thinks we could pare down the gov. a little bit, I admit there is a lot of fraud waste and abuse but 75% is insane and will collapse the county. This would be catastrophic.
I wish I could get citizenship in another county right now.
Take a deep breath. Despite his talk, he is going to have to follow the process. He can't just fire people without having cause. RIF takes time and requires following the regs.
That's why he's working to hard to make working conditions as miserable as possible -- he wants people to leave of their own accord.
