No, people that are strongly MAGA will make that obvious in their lives and comments, and we wouldn’t be friends anyway. If people are making anti-trans, anti-diversity, anti-humanitarian comments, then I naturally just distance myself.

Neighbors, coworkers, kids friends’ parents— those I don’t engage about politics and just stay friendly.

Family members are more of an issue. I’m struggling with that.

I am kind of over the blue haired genderless Marxist aesthetic. I am friends with leftists- most of my closest friends are actually far left and I'm a Trumper. But I don't like the whole gay race communist hipster style and avoid those people. You know them. The ugly ones with colorful hair, pride flags and signs, and pronouns whenever they sign their name. Get a real personality.

I am the PP above how had the high school friend. Yes, it was about the overt hatred they expressed and still express. It wasn't just about differing policy positions etc.

When someone I know was complaining that ground beef had gone up to almost $10.00/lb, I enjoyed tremendously asking her why trump not only had not brought prices down but prices had gone up since he took office less than three weeks ago. She had no answer.

I don't believe in icing people out over their voting choices or politics. I would stay away from anyone that is explicitly hateful towards any population group (Black, White, men, women, trans people, etc.). If they just say a stupid thing once in a while I'll try to challenge it but generally won't let it affect the relationship but I won't tolerate outright hatred.

I haven’t had a need to cut off any MAGA people because MAGA is a personality type that I would not have befriended anyway, even before MAGA existed. It’s not hard to sense obnoxiousness in people early on. At this point I can identify a lot of MAGA people just by looking at them.

I distance myself from anyone saying outrageous or hurtful things on social media or in real life. That goes both ways. It’s usually about their politics I guess, but it’s more about lacking a filter. If we can have a civilized conversation, we can be friends even if we don’t agree.

My childhood best friend is on the opposite side of the political spectrum but we still have a great time when we get together.

I don't have close family or friends who are MAGA, thankfully. I know lots of people (including my own family) that grew up in an 80's Republican family, but no one's voted that way for 2 decades. The R party is unrecognizable.

I do have some people that voted 3rd party last year, and I definitely have anger about their actions. I can't look someone who voted for Stein in the eye - it was a monumentally stupid and egotistical thing to do. Nobody benefited from their 3rd party vote except their ego.

Go watch the videos from last year comparing what happens when someone wears a Kamala hat to a Trump rally vs. when somebody wears a Trump hat to a Kamala rally. In general, there was a lot more politeness at the Trump rallies and a lot more abuse at the Kamala rallies.

I am a left of center moderate and lost a very close high school friend because they bought into the racism and sexism of MAGA. It was a choice between them and the whole rest of my high school cohort, which is comprised of people of all colors and backgrounds. It was not a hard choice.

I respect that everyone has a right to vote as they choose but don't gloat. I have a neighbor who kept their Trump sign on their lawn until Jan. 20. Needless to say he 's been given the cold shoulder!

Having differing opinions of Trump is not the same as having opposing political viewpoints. Trump is not a political viewpoint. We all can agree he sucks as a human being while at the same time we can have opposing opinions on most appropriate income tax code.

I'm saying that the idea that dems not wanting to be friends with maga is why they are losing is false.
