I know USAID contractors were originally furloughed but now they assume there is no job to go back to.

DoD contractors are reporting it is bizarro world but no layoffs

At my agency, we're fighting to keep pretty much any contracts. First they came for the feds and no one cared.

PP - And I should add, these are support services contractors. They aren't consultants. There's a big difference there.

They have cut numerous contracts from programs where they already sent feds home. It's about reducing fed personnel but it's also about reducing contractors, especially ones that got their contracts through "DEI" and then letting others swoop in to claim them

I think we need to wait and see. When the budget comes out, if agencies are instructed to cut programs and spending, they will 100% cut contracts IF they have the choice to proceed as they see fit. The way things are going, it looks like reducing spending isn't the ultimate goal - getting rid of feds is.
