There are rumors that the board of Tesla wants to vote out Musk. If that happens, would you consider buying a Tesla?
Not for me. Teslas are forever linked to Musk in my mind for as long as I live. My kids may feel differently in 10 years when they buy cars.
FWIW, I hated Musk even before he entered into politics. It started with the Thai kids soccer team being trapped in a cave. Musk reminded me of Trump then, whom I also hated since before The Apprentice. Yes, I'm old.

All people I personally know with Teslas would buy another one and two already did. They have no idea what Musk is doing or saying. If they knew, they would have bought the stock long ago, not the car.
The bought the car for status and have since had to cut down on spending. All work from home, don't drive enough to justify the expense, and two have had periods of unemployment.
What status does it give?

We can't get another car right now, and doing so would be bad for the environment since there is nothing wrong with this one (except the guy who owns the company has lost his mind and soul, if ever he had one), so it is what it is. And it's actually a great car, so there's that too. We don't own any Tesla stock.
If you want to take something out on Elon, go after Elon, not your neighbors. We need to get our kids to school and ourselves to work. A car is a car. I don't get people who side eye someone for the car they drive as if it means they agree with Elon's current politics. That's just not realistic.
I don't think you need to worry about the sedan-type Teslas, since they're very widespread and people understand most of them were bought before Elon started cozying up to the extreme-right.
PP is correct that the timing of the cybertruck rollout makes these owners seem like they just deliberately ignored red flags from that quarter (or maybe they're neo-Nazis too!). Also cybertrucks are extremely unsafe - they're very heavy, and they lack collapsible plastic fenders which make collisions with pedestrians/bicycles/etc less lethal than they might otherwise be. Without injecting politics into it, it's just a really, really, bad design and no rational car-buyer should ever be interested.
Teen DD said cybertrucks look like trash cans.
When I saw one in a parking lot, I thought it was a trash dumpster.
One of Trump’s kids or grandkids drives one.

I went to the Washington Auto Show yesterday. I was near the Tesla display and a guy asked me if I wanted to test drive a Tesla. I said, "No thank you". He then persisted and said, "Are you sure?". I said that I wouldn't want to be anywhere near a Tesla in DC at this time. The Tesla area was dead and I don't think anyone was looking at them. The other EVs had lines of people waiting to test drive them.
Good for you! I hope Musk cares about Tesla but seems unlikely considering he just professed his love for Trump “as much as a straight man can love another man.”

A lot of analysts do not think Tesla will be around in 2-3 years. The only place where Tesla is still in the top 3 in China(for some unknown reason :roll. All the other markets sales are way down.

I don't own a tesla but my car insurance keeps going up and I'm not getting tickets when I called to ask about it I was told it's directly because of tesla repairs and how long they need rental cars for, so basically everyone else is paying for these people and their teslas.
