Yep. It's shocking because anyone can tell you that STEM infrastructure development is a national security issue. The US Military funds STEM education programs because having domestic production of everything from chips to steel to polymers is a key part of military readiness.
This country is not really very concerned with national security issues. DOD also says climate change is a national security issue. The voters don't care about these things obviously based on the last election.
