Ever heard of canning and freezing?

I assume most food will go up in price, as grocery companies decide to take profits on the food that isn't covered by tariffs.

I've been thinking the past few years how food is so much cheaper in Europe and Asia. I'm talking about buying in grocery stores and markets.
A 3 euro bottle of wine there is much superior to a 20 USD bottle here.

Anonymous wrote:I have to admit I wasn't worried when I read the list. A lot of the produce is so cheap to start with. And Canada and Mexico are not the only places where the produce and meat comes from. Isn't most meat consumed in the US from domestic meat producers? A lot of berries come from Peru in the winter, US in the summer. Most bananas are from Costa Rica, so not affected by the tariffs (directly). The PP explaining that it doesn't mean an automatic 25% rise in food prices nailed it perfectly.

Well a lot of farmers purchase fertilizer from Canada so it wouldn’t be limited to just the food products listed in the OP’s post.

It isn't just the tariffs themselves, it's also retaliatory tariffs. Read about the Smoot-Hawley tariffs.

Get ready to grow vegetables in your balcony or terrace if you don’t have a yard.

This year, people will probably start stealing from gardens.

Good luck.
