It’s a great school in a warm climate with a fun environment, and great sports being so close to Duke. The research triangle is booming and NC state is in Raleigh. Makes it a fun place to go to college and live after. Many people love Chapel Hill and Carolina blue. It doesn’t have a stuffy or elite vibe. That being said, mine wanted to go to Northeast!
Why not focus on NC State? All of the things you mentioned are also true for NC State and an oos kid can actually get in.

It’s a great school in a warm climate with a fun environment, and great sports being so close to Duke. The research triangle is booming and NC state is in Raleigh.
