Based on what? The opinion of someone who went to college 30 years ago and is stuck in time?
The fact that they are diploma mills that rely heavily on online classes and TAs teaching classes.
How would you know it is more the case there than elsewhere? Most colleges now have an available online component.
It’s common knowledge and easily verified by a minimum of research.
I'm not doubting your point. I'm just saying the same point could be made about many other schools.

UCF and USF are absolutely NOT commuter schools. UCF is one of the largest universities in the country (I think it's 2nd nationally) by enrollment.
I grew up in FL and in the late 90's UF was always king and FSU was a far behind 2nd place for those who couldn't get into UF. I'm no longer in state and times have greatly changed, but it's not on par with UF. UF is the flagship and the harder admit.
I am in FL as well and yes, UCF and USF have changed so much. UCF is especially great for certain majors (hospitality management, close relationship with NASA). UF is a little odd in terms of admissions. They play games by rejecting a lot of kids who then get in after community college or do online first. This year they are trying to raise their profile with more OOS admits and deferrals.

It seems more of the kids from this area are going to Clemson, TN and South Carolina over FSU.
Not sure why, but I barely hear about FSU.
Both are ranked much lower. Maybe they just feel like experiencing something new. Same reason South Florida kids tend to not apply in South Florida.

That's a really weird take. FSU is first in the country for criminal justice, great for political science. And UF says they are better, constantly mock FSU, but they admit a ton of students with low scores and grades through all the alternative admissions programs. Are you a Gator? Because that checks in terms of attitude.
"Wouldn't let my kid anywhere near it" is the giveaway that this is fake/trolling, as is "football school full of mediocre students." Those takes can't be taken seriously.
I too am in Tallahassee, with my oldest applying to colleges this year and now accepted to both FSU and UF, as well as higher-'ranked' schools in other states. FSU is clearly stronger for some majors, UF for others. Both are good schools.
