Per capita, last year BIM had the best college acceptances in the DMV, and they are on track to meet or beat that record this year.

It helps that many Sidwell (and other private school) parents have the means to provide an environment that produces kids who have the “complete package”. Money for travel sports, Money for braces, Money for all kinds of tutors and consultants. I’m not coming from a position of sour grapes (I’m a private school parent). That’s just the truth.

There are plenty of parents at all of these schools who can and do pay for all of this and more. It's not just Sidwell.

Seriously. Kids choose colleges for myriad reasons, so you cannot draw reasonable conclusions about a high school education from such a list. Unless your hope is that you can brag that your kid, who won't be attending a top college, went to high school with a bunch of kids who did. Because if you kid is destined for MIT, that will happen no matter where they go to high school.

It's only a portion of the graduates. They didn't have to spend $200k to accomplish either.

Oakton? Well, that’s because their families didn’t have $200k to spend in the first place. Very few of the students listed in the OP aspire to attend UVA. It’s a fine school, but not usually the first (or second) choice for Big 3/5 students.
