Former Midwesterner here. This is solid advice. Many SLACS would be happy to have her.

Other state’s SLACs too. They like to have representation from many states and can be more generous to attract them

Got it. That's going to be more difficult to get under budget but not impossible. Your best bet is going to be small, rural, liberal arts college that really need students. One that gets mentioned on this board is Juniata.

Wooster will do a merit/FA review before you apply, and they might be able to get you there. Great little school.

St. Olaf in Minnesota with merit aid came down to $35k a year. If you get need-based aid, you could meet your budget. There are other private schools in the Midwest that are good with merit aid. Miami of Ohio is another one I've heard mentioned.

Maybe learn a little about this country before profiling an entire region based on what you "think" might be there. Tons of people are blue in MO - which you'd know if you had more than 1 brain cell.

OP, you daughter will be fine at a large school. Her test scores are not high enough to justify the cost of OOS.

Kalamazoo College could be 25k. Merit would be likely.

You need to have her research schools and merit aid or do it yourself instead of just saying you can’t afford anything outside Missouri.

Any chance OP is a veteran? Mich State will grant in-state tuition.
