You all do realize that a lot of other cities have similar COLAs right? A lot are even more expensive than DC. This would not be a cost savings measure.

I’m familiar with BLM. Trump tried to move it to CO and they lost so many people that they’re still not adequately staffed.

I don’t get the point of all this. My DH is a fed working in a fed office outside of DC. I don’t see the point of shifting any more of his agency to other parts of the country just to do it. It doesn’t make any sense. There are tons of federal workers spread across the country. Why do we need more?

Is DC the US capital or not? It is the seat of our government. Why move more federal jobs out of the federal district?

So silly - what data would they even want? Not all of us are constantly typing. We get phone calls, we read things in hard copy - I have hard copies of statutes and regs I’m often consulting. Am I going to have to randomly hit computer keys?

It is pretty ridiculous. It is easy to bust someone who is not working. Send emails and call every hour and document how long it is for a response. The people who are offline not doing work would be fully busted in a week.

Depends on size, I guess. My agency only has ~1500 feds and everyone works in DC. Packing up 450 of them and sending them somewhere else makes no sense.

A better way is to increase remote positions in headquarter, so that agency can hire more people outside DC metro area.

Looks like DoD, DHS, IC, and Geospatial are exempt from the bill’s relocation requirements. So basically the largest federal employers in the area lol
