I like Nikki as a host and hope she does well. I hope she roasts the celebs worse than Ricky Gervais did!
Nikki is good friends with Bill Maher and David Spade (among other comics/celebs). I wonder if she got any jokes or inspiration from them?
I think she already said she wouldn't be so harsh since this is her first GG and she wants to be reoccurring
Ricky Gervais was not funny - just mean
I loved his monologue because a lot of it was true. But I think he went to far wheh he told the actors to take their award and f-off.
I don't know anything about Glaser except that she made a splash at the Brady roast. I thought those jokes were mean and personal because they were specific to his marriage and divorce. I feel like someone at GG interpreted the publicity from the roast as an endorsement of her comedy. I think the roast publicity is a one-off and that she'll probably bomb the Globes.
I did not find it witty - and too mean spirited and self righteous … came off like a short guy with sour grapes to me.
Harsh Truth needs to be told artfully and with underlying compassion.
I am expecting Nicky to be way funnier.
Have you seen the CBS promos for the globes? If so, do you think the promos are typical of her comedy? The jokes are crimgewothy. I would not be surprised if they were written by Colbet's writers.
Comedians often get forced to water down their jokes for the networks.

Anonymous wrote:I hope Ariana Grande does not win anything. She was much better than I expected in the film but definitely not that great of an actress, and her shameless homewrecking is a major turnoff.

His monologue was a breath of fresh air.
So one person’s fresh air is another person’s putrid stench

Some of it was funny. But all of it was mean. He definitely had the vibe of “I don’t care if everyone here hates me and I’m never invited back. I don’t need you dumb Americans.” It was a little refreshing but in the end more off-putting than funny.
