Yes, I remember this from applying to Brown as well. To me, it really skirts the line of looking at someone and seeing whether they are URM and judging whether or not they are wealthy, so I am not a fan. There are studies that show that people tend to gravitate toward people who are conventionally attractive also. A super selective school like Brown should consider the cost (time and $$) to the over 90% of applicants who will not get into the school.

CMC also now has a video. Doesn't look like its part of Glimpse though?

After submitting your application, you will receive instructions by email from the CMC Admission Office on how to submit an optional two-minute video. Brown lets you choose Glimpse or upload your own 2 min video. PP probably just used Glimpse as a catch all. May not even know that there were 2 ways to do it!

So true. I crack up at the people who think all these are "professionally" produced. Kids are just savvy with the apps and software and phones.

I help my clients brainstorm because that's where kids may need a little help -- hard to talk about yourself. Where to start, what to touch on and all. But, it's all them!

DD accepted to Brown with video - hers was very simple and was about her love of legos and how they have fostered her passion for her major. Didn’t do glimpse because of the fee but submitted through the portal. Not sure if it really made an impact. In my opinion, her essays were much stronger.

On a different note, asked the AO at Bowdoin about their video on a tour there and they said they mostly use it to confirm English fluency and make sure you are who you say you are. Not sure if this applies anywhere else though.
