Happy to report that the Whole Foods is making pico again. It was at the Friendship Heights store today. Happy Taco Tuesday to all who celebrate.

It’s all pretty bad, but if you buy store (or restaurant) pico de gallo and stir into seasoned mashed avocado, it’s pretty great. Saves you from chopping.

Seriously if you have the energy to brush & floss your teeth, bathe, or receive a while foods delivery, you have energy to prepare fresh guacamole.

Time is money and when I crave guacamole I just want it now. Maybe just once for a snack. I don’t even know what the WF guac costs - maybe $8 or $9? - but it’s not like it’s some large sum. Making it myself won’t taste as good, will take time, dirty dishes, and will be, what, merely a couple dollars cheaper?

I'm not trying to save money. I'm trying to prepare fresh guacamole without store bought additives, at the expense of 10 minutes prep and clean time.

"Time is money"

In the 10 minutes it takes to prepare guac and clean, my hedge fund only loses 10k or so. I can sustain these losses. Life without freshly prepared guac is a life not worth living.

I like the basic guacamole from WF, but I got burned once when I didn’t read the label. I didn’t know they had different variations, so I accidentally picked up their guacamole with bacon. That was a very unpleasant gustatory experience. The bacon chunks were soft and fatty and the smoky flavor overwhelmed the avocado. 🫨

How do you maintain the right amount of ripe avocado for when you need it? Do you freeze ripe avocdao?

You can freeze pre-made guac?!

You can freeze anything.

You can eat unfrozen pre-made guac too, if you are willing to abandon all respect you have for food and for yourself.

Like a PP I prefer to just one that is just avocado and doctor it up. I don’t do it to save time but for when there are no good avocados in the store and/or I didn’t have a chance to buy one in advance.
